When leaving the Victoria airport the day earlier than our Colloquium, I observed a van of the Dunsmuir resort marked with great letters which I learn as "Alcohol Colloquium". I do frequently make such errors a result of worldwide, informal, and careless manner during which I learn quite a few advertisements, and checked myself speedy to learn it competently as "Algol Colloquium". hundreds of thousands of fellow voters might simply make a similar mistake, and no apology will be anticipated. Even I learn and listen to the note alcohol extra often than Algol, even though i have to say that Algols have given me extra excitement and less complications through the years; in that, even if, i'll be a singularity, and doubtless a pitiful one at that. Being appointed Chairman of the clinical Organizing Committee, i'll be deemed to be a purer" Algolist" than different investigators, even supposing my variety of lively pursuits is way broader; and an identical is correct approximately all of the 28 invited audio system and all of the different contributors of the Colloquium. Our curiosity are strongly diverse, yet there are a number of sturdy purposes that introduced us jointly at this Colloquium.

This e-book covers a large quarter of issues, from basic theories to commercial purposes. It serves as an invaluable reference for all attracted to computational modeling of partial differential equations pertinent basically to aeronautical purposes. The reader will locate 5 survey articles on cartesian mesh equipment, on numerical reviews of turbulent boundary layers, on effective computation of compressible flows, at the use of Riemann-solvers and on numerical methods in complicated flows.

High resolution spectroscopic observations of the H-alpha feature around the orbit of Algol have been reported recently by Richards et a1. (1989) and by Gillet et a1. <19B8). y~ spectra of Algol in which these lines appear to originate in a region n~ar the B8V primary. The H-alpha studies show the flow of cool gas (10 4K) from the inner hemisphere of the cooler toward and possibly around the primary component. During 1975/76, Richards et ai. found strong evi~ence for a disk of high-rotational velocity gas around the B8V primary and a localized, variable, high density region of gas located above the inner hemisphere of this star.
